Clive
The rules between you and Clive Careers Ltd, in plain English: what Clive provides, what he costs (nothing), what we ask of you, and where responsibility sits.
Last updated: 27 August 2026Clive is a career agent for UK graduates, run by Clive Careers Ltd (company no. 17417935, 66 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NA). You tell Clive about yourself; he searches the UK graduate market, recommends roles with reasons and helps you organise applications.
These terms apply when you create an account or use the Clive career service. By doing so, you agree to them. The public website may also be used without an account; the rules on acceptable use, ownership, liability and the legal frame still apply to that use.
You must be at least 18 to create a Clive account. You must use your own account, keep its login details secure and tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed it.
Nothing. Clive is free for graduates and job-seekers, permanently. We will never charge you for finding work. UK employment-agency rules generally prohibit charging a work-seeker for work-finding services, and we agree with them.
Employers may pay to promote roles or for separate employer services. Payment never buys an unlabelled recommendation. The rules are in the sponsored roles policy.
Clive searches and organises vacancy information, builds a profile from what you share, ranks potential matches and helps you manage your search. Where the product lets Clive submit information or make an introduction, he does so only after you ask.
We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. We do not promise that every role in the market will always be present, current or accurately described, or that the service will always be uninterrupted.
Clive uses artificial intelligence. AI can misunderstand you and produce information that is incomplete, inaccurate, outdated or biased. Clive's rankings and explanations are recommendations, not decisions by an employer and not a guarantee of suitability, eligibility, interview or employment.
Clive does not provide legal, immigration, financial or other regulated professional advice. Check important details such as deadlines, salary, location, qualifications, right-to-work requirements and application instructions on the employer's own site before relying on them.
Tell us when something looks wrong. We use feedback to investigate and improve the service.
Applications and hiring decisions belong to employers. Unless Clive expressly says otherwise, an employer is not our partner or agent and does not endorse Clive merely because its role appears in the service.
Employer sites and other third-party services have their own terms, privacy notices, security and availability. We are not responsible for their decisions, conduct or content, but this does not excuse us from using reasonable care and skill in providing Clive.
You keep ownership of your CV, answers, conversations and other material you provide. You confirm that you have the right to provide it and ask Clive to use it.
You grant Clive Careers Ltd a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, copy, analyse, adapt and otherwise use that material for as long as reasonably needed to provide, secure, evaluate and improve the service, as described in the privacy policy. The licence does not transfer ownership of your material to us.
Our processing of personal information is governed by the privacy policy and data-protection law. Agreeing to these terms does not remove your data-protection rights or turn every use of personal information into consent.
Clive's name, brand, design, database, software and original content belong to us or our licensors. Employer names, vacancies, logos and other materials belong to their respective owners.
Clive is a young service and will change. We may add, change or remove features, correct information, limit access or take the service offline for maintenance, security or operational reasons. We will give reasonable notice if a change materially reduces the core service, unless urgent security or legal reasons make advance notice impractical.
You can stop using Clive at any time. To close your account or request deletion of your personal information, email [email protected].
We may restrict, suspend or close an account that materially breaches these terms, threatens the service or another person, creates legal or security risk, or has been inactive for a long period, in which case we will email a warning first. We will explain the reason and provide a way to contact us unless doing so would create a security or legal risk.
Closing an account does not automatically erase every record. Deletion and retention are handled as described in the privacy policy.
Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts liability where the law does not allow it, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by negligence. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights, including the right to receive a service performed with reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for an employer's hiring decision, for losses caused by information supplied by an employer or another third party, or for a loss that neither of us could reasonably have foreseen when you started using Clive. These exclusions apply only to the extent permitted by law and do not apply where our failure to use reasonable care and skill caused the loss.
Clive is provided for personal career searches. We are not liable for business losses such as lost profit, revenue, opportunity or goodwill.
We may update these terms as Clive changes. We will date the new version and give reasonable notice of a material change before it takes effect. Changes apply prospectively. If you do not accept a material change, you can stop using Clive and close your account before it takes effect.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you keep any mandatory protections given to you by the law where you live and may bring a claim in your local courts. Consumers may also bring proceedings in any other court the law allows.
If one part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. A delay in enforcing a term does not waive it. No person other than you or Clive Careers Ltd has a right to enforce these terms.
Legal questions or complaints: [email protected]. We would like the chance to fix a problem before either of us reaches for a courtroom. The dog is quicker, too.
