Harry
Hi, I’m Harry. I graduated from the University of Manchester in June 2025 with a first-class degree in Economics.
Despite my best attempts to make a plan, I went into my final year with no real idea of what I wanted to do after university. All I knew was that I needed to apply for jobs, so I applied to anything and everything. Looking back, I spent more time pursuing what I thought was expected of an Economics graduate, mainly finance, than figuring out what actually interested me. By the final interviews, it was clear I didn’t share the enthusiasm of the people around me.
I started my career in audit, but quickly realised it wasn’t the right fit for my interests or strengths. Six months later, I was looking for a new direction. That took me to a tech startup, where I loved the work and often found myself working into the early hours because I was so absorbed in what I was doing.
The experience made me wonder how different my first steps could have been if I’d had more help at university to explore my options, and the encouragement to pursue what I wanted rather than what I thought I should want.
That’s why I left my role to start Clive Careers. I want to help students and graduates understand what’s out there, discover what excites them and start their careers with a clearer sense of direction.
