Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. This policy also covers similar technologies such as local storage, pixels and software development kit identifiers.

What applies right now

This website measures its own traffic. It counts visits without setting anything on your device at all, which it may do without asking you. If you want to know how many people read a page, that is all it takes.

Two things need your permission, because they are about you rather than about the page: recognising you when you come back, and recording how you move around so we can see where the site confuses people. We ask before either happens, and until you answer, neither does. Saying no costs you nothing.

If you accept analytics, recordings can show page content, clicks and what you type into forms, including names and email addresses. Password fields are masked in your browser before recording data is sent. Recordings start only after you accept.

The categories we may use

Strictly necessary. These keep the service secure, remember a login, balance traffic or record a privacy choice. They are used only where the service cannot work properly without them. Consent is not required for a technology that is genuinely necessary, although we still explain it here.

Analytics. These help us understand whether people can use the site and where it needs improvement. This category also covers session recording, which replays how a visitor moved through a page with page text and non-password form entries visible. We will not set non-essential analytics, and will not record anything, until you have made a clear choice, and refusing will not reduce the service you receive.

Advertising. Clive does not currently use advertising cookies or track people across unrelated websites.

Counting visits stores nothing on your device. Cloudflare runs a measurement script on each page that records the visit without cookies and without any identifier. PostHog also counts visits, clicks and waitlist form steps from people who have not accepted, or who chose Necessary only, without storing anything on the device beyond the record of that choice: it tells visits apart with a one-way code built on its servers from the IP address, the browser's user-agent and a secret that changes every day, so nobody is recognised from one day to the next. The privacy policy explains it in full. Our server also keeps a request log for the home page and the pages aimed at employers, described in the privacy policy, which sets nothing on your device either.

Where consent is required, the accept and reject choices will be equally clear. You can change that choice later through the cookie settings link. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser, although blocking strictly necessary technologies may prevent parts of Clive from working.

We do not sell browsing information. The privacy policy explains how we use technical and product-usage information more generally.
